Inflammation of lacrimal sac in known as dacryocystitis. If this inflammation persists for more than a month, it is known as chronic dacryocystitis.
If inflammation occurs with acute infection of the lacrimal sac within a few days, then it is known as acute dacryocystitis. It is more common in females between 40-60yrs of age. If chronic inflammation of the lacrimal sac occurring in newborn infants, then it's known as congenitaldacryocystitis.
