Anaemia

There are many types of anemia. Iron deficiency anemia is the most common cause of anemia. Iron is required to form hemoglobin in red blood cells.

It is mainly due to a decrease in iron intake in the diet, due to acute blood loss. It is manifested by loss of appetite, pain abdomen, lethargy, headache, chest pain. It is diagnosed by measuring S. IRON, S.TIBC, & S. Ferritin. The deficiency is treated by replacing IC/oral iron.

 

For Type 2 Diabetes

Self-Assessment to identify being at risk for developing type 2 diabetes if you are:

  • Overweight
  • 45 years or older
  • Family history of type 2 diabetes
  • Physically inactive
  • With gestational diabetes history
  • pre-diabetes status

For Type 1 Diabetes

It is caused by an immune reaction (the body attacks and kills its self-tissues by mistake). Known risk factors include:

  • Family history: Having a parent, brother, or sister with type 1 diabetes.
  • Age: You can get type 1 diabetes at any age, but it’s more likely to develop when you’re a child, teen, or young adult.

 

  • Increased thirst and urination
  • Increased appetite
  • Easy Fatigue
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Blurred vision
  • Numbness or tingling in the feet or hands
  • Delayed healing of ulcers or wound
  • Cardiovascular disease (IHD)
  • Nerve damage (neuropathy)
  • Kidney damage (nephropathy)
  • Eye damage (retinopathy)
  • Cerebro Vascular Accidents (CVA)
  • Skin conditions – recurrent fungal and bacterial infections  

How is it diagnosed?

  • Fasting blood sugar value more than 126 mg/dl
  • 2Hr postprandial blood sugar more than 200 mg/dl
  • Random blood sugar more than 200 mg/dl
  • HbA1c (glycosylated hemoglobin) more than 6.5 %

  • Dietary modification Low Calories, Low Carbohydrate, and Low-fat Diet
  • regular exercises
  • Body Weight reduction if overweight
  • Oral hypoglycaemic agents
  • Insulin therapy
